1st Term Accomplishments
- Assembled team to develop a long term capital expenditure plan
- Developed financial forecasting discipline
- Implemented an employee Wellness Program to reduce sick time use and keep health insurance premiums level. Only minor premium increases have been seen.
- Implemented a merit increase program to reward high performers and incentivize employees to perform at a higher level.
- Courthouse feasibility and planning/design
- Pushed for quarterly elected/department head meetings.
- Championed software for time keeping, accounting and case management (court and prosecutor office), building control systems.
- Gas/Electric aggregation – over $1.2 mm in savings to MC residents based upon negotiated rates.
- Chaired Emergency Food and Shelter Program to distribute funds related to COVID
- Chaired Medina Sunrise Rotary COVID 19 task force
- Promoted diversity training for county employees
- Promoted sustainability program for county:
- recycling (chair Solid Waste Policy Committee) implemented program to recycle commercial waste stream.
- Curbside recycling programs in several townships.
- Electric/gas aggregation for residents in townships to achieve bulk pricing and savings to residents.
- Solar program is being researched to purchase power for county facilities and possibly electric aggregation for residents
- Invested $25mm to fund a anerobic digester at the Liverpool Waste Water Tx plant to generate power for the plant. Highly successful and is more than paying for itself.
- Lighting upgrades completed in county facilities to move to LED.
- Fiber to the Home is in process and once completed the Medina County Fiber Network will be entirely self-sustaining.
